FRIEDMAN--Joyce Lita Somsby (Joy), of Palm Beach County, FL (formerly of Livingston Manor, NY) succumbed to old age on September 23, 2022. Born Leap Year 1928, height of the Roaring Twenties into the loving, musical, practical arms of parents Ada (Assistant Director Camp Wenonah, Naples, ME), and Saul. Raised in Borough Park Brooklyn during the Great Depression and WWII. Gifted in ice hockey, swimming, tennis, piano, tap dance and golf. Salutatorian Brooklyn Academy with full scholarship to Brooklyn College. Honors in Anatomy, History, Political Science, Geography, Art. New York State and Sullivan County Departments of Welfare Social Worker. A cruciverbalist who cherished the Sunday New York Times Crossword Puzzles till her final days. Leaves children Amy, Alyssa, and John. Grandchildren Becky, Holly, Owen. Six great-grand- children. Her husband Mike (Myron M. Friedman, Attorney at Law) predeceased her in 2011. They shared the gifts of generosity, story-telling, and great humor. From dust to dust.
