The first time I met Kate at a Pearson ELT Sales and Marketing conference I could hear her Welsh valleys lilt through her New York accent.
Are you Welsh? I asked, to which she answered something like Yes, and so are you. When we realised that we had grown up about 5 miles away from each other we made an instant connection. We chatted for ages and became hysterical, that one based in New York, the other in Naples missed the same things about home, such as Quavers crisps. So much so that she would hire a pool car to go to the local supermarket in Harlow to stock up on industrial quantities which we duly polished off with a glass of white wine before dinner.
Kate was an amazing colleague who just felt like an old friend. My thoughts go out to her family and I will be thinking of you on Monday. God Bless.

Kate was my boss for five years, but was always more of a good friend than anything else. And always great fun to be with. My deepest condolences to those closest to her; if I feel her absence this much, I can only imagine your sense of loss. Sending my most compassionate prayers for her enlightenment, peace and happiness.

I was a new sales rep at Pearson when I first met Kate years ago and found her to be a wonderful mentor, and a smart and caring colleague. I am shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. She will be missed in the publishing world. My prayers are with the family.
