KATHRYN KRIS Obituary
Emily. Adored wife, beloved daughter, cherished and trusted friend, Kaly passed away May 24, 2015 in Washington, DC. Born April 23, 1986 in La Jolla, CA, raised in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA, Sparta, NJ and Flagstaff, AZ, Kaly graduated cum laude from Georgetown University in 2008 with a major in Russian Language and a minor in Business. Artistic, musical, and athletic, Kaly was a former Sales Manager at Meltwater News in Washington, DC and Dubai, UAE, and an Accounts Manager at Opower, Inc. in Arlington, VA. Wife of Robert Edward Kris of New York, NY, daughter of David and Marian Stevens of Flagstaff, AZ, daughter-in-law of Mark and Mary Ellen Kris and sister-in-law of Mary Kiernan Kris. Her radiant smile and wonderful laugh will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Kaly Stevens Kris Sarcoma Research Fund at: http://mskcc.convio.net/goto/KalyStevensKris. A service celebrating Kaly's life will be held Saturday June 6th on the campus of Georgetown University.

Jade and I just found out about Kaly's passing and are so saddened by the news. Jade and Kaly were best friends in Cardiff. They played soccer for the
local team and Kaly was so speedy. We remember how much fun she was, how much vim and vigor she had, and her wonderful laugh. We visited the family when they first moved to Sparta and Jade was so upset to lose such a dear friend then. Our hugs and love go out to Marian and David, and Kaly's husband, who we never had the pleasure of meeting.

I will always remember our tennis days and the double sessions we spent sweating together at every summer. I remember the endless bus rides we took to matches together always trying to talk about boys without Mr. Hughes hearing. You were an amazing person and friend to everyone you knew. My deepest condolences go out to Marian, David, and Rob, as well as to Kaly's other family members and friends who provided the love and support that enabled Kaly to blossom into an incredible woman. This sweet, lovely, and intuitively warm woman was truly remarkable. Kaly taught me invaluable lessons about living life to the fullest and about facing the most difficult of challenges with love, integrity, and strength. Even as I am saddened by Kaly's passing, I derive joy from the memory of her wonderful smile and infectious laugh and I derive strength from recalling how she faced challenges. This legacy of Kaly's is quite an accomplishment, especially for a young adult. She will always be in my heart.

This is a beautiful tribute to Kaly and we will all miss this wonderful young woman. We are so glad that we were able to watch her grow up during her Sparta years and to continue to watch, from afar, as she embraced life and achieved so many of her dreams. We send our love and deepest sympathy to Dave, Marian, Rob and their families.
