KATHRYN WASSERMAN DAVIS

WASSERMAN DAVIS-- Kathryn. Wellesley College mourns the passing of Kathryn Wasserman Davis, class of 1928. At 106, Kathryn was Wellesley's oldest known alumna; she was also one of our most beloved. For nearly 85 years, she was committed to higher education and service to her community. A passionate and thoughtful advocate, Kathryn's philanthropy supported all aspects of the College, including professorships, financial aid, global education initiatives, and building and landscape improvements. Kathryn and her late husband, Shelby Cullom Davis, gave the cornerstone gift for Wellesley's Davis Museum and Cultural Center, which is named in their honor. Her vision also enabled Wellesley to return land that had been converted into a parking lot back to its original beauty. On her 100th birthday, Kathryn established the 100 Projects for Peace to fund student peace-building initiatives around the world. She was a Trustee Emerita who served on the Wellesley Board from 1984 to 2002. Her generosity touched many generations of Wellesley women, and will continue to make a difference for many generations to come. Kathryn is remembered, and will be missed, by her Wellesley sisters throughout the world.
