"I will always remember him as a great person."

I have thought about Dr. Kenneth Falchuk for many years and worked as his medical secretary at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital over 40 years ago. I remember him as one of the kindest men I ever knew. I was in my early 20's and I always felt like he cared about me not as an employee but as a real person. I met Nancy quite a few times and admired her as well. I am sad to see he is gone, but I know he was surrounded by the love of a fabulous family. People like Dr. Falchuk don't come around often in one's life and I am grateful that I shared but a small slice of his time on the planet. Love to Nancy and his children.

At times, and as one gets older, we once again remember a special person who had a positive impact in our lives, who influenced our way of thinking in a beneficial way, and whom we greatly admired. We then become curious about what they might be up to. Because of the internet it is now so easy to look up someone. So, a few minutes ago, I again wondered about Dr. Ken Falchuk. I was saddened to read that he passed away in 2018, more than four years ago. It was in the summer of 1975 when, as a 3rd year student at Harvard Medical School, I was exposed to this incredible teacher during my medicine rotation at the Brigham. I am one of those students who, once a week and for two months, sat in a classroom with about 20 other students and listened to those clinical case scenarios Dr. Falchuk was known for. His teaching technique was superb. He outlined a situation for us and carefully listened to our responses and proposed diagnostic solutions. I still remember some of those scenarios. We were eager to get it right, maybe to impress him. Then, just when we thought we were getting very close to the diagnosis, Dr. Falchuk would introduce yet another clinical detail. He was so clever, and he clearly enjoyed his interactions with us. He smiled at our frustration in having to start from scratch. What a wonderful teacher! And, he was a very pleasant man and proper teacher who never made fun of the crazy and illogical conclusions we sometimes came up with. I never forgot that special time in that small classroom at the Brigham, the Brigham that was a legend because of special people like him. I remain so very grateful to him and I miss him.

I did not have the opportunity to express him, in life, my admiration for his enormous ability as an MD and the human warmth of his personality. Neither have I managed to be favorably decisive in a common activity as my intention was. He has been for everyone the epitome of calm in difficult moments, brilliant medical value and a great teacher. I did not have the luck to share much time with him, but he left a memory that I always carry with me. Without him, losses are unrecoverable knowledge, intuition kindness, a great father and professor. He is one of all people with whom I have shared least time but who will remain in my memory the most.

My name is Mario Santimone, MD. from Venezuela and I can say I met Keneth when I was 10 years old. He was living in Maracay, Venezuela and was our neighbour. My older brother were friends of Keneth and I told him I would like to be medical doctor. The first lesson of human anatomy I recieved from him was that day with a model of human anatomy. I have admired him at the distance ever. God bless him. His brothers Mayra and Myron also where friends of my family in Maracay as well as his father Salomon and his mother Dora. Thanks.

A brilliant doctor and a compassionate human being. Always wanted to help in any possible way. He was a friend of my father when still in Venezuela and I first met him in Boston when I was 15 yo. Then later on helped me getting letters of support to enter into residency training and was always encouraging and amazingly supportive. I have considered him a role model of excellence in Medicine. He will certainly be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

Dr. Kenneth Falchuk, my PCP for many years, a very special individual with a caring and loving heart, a brilliant physician who was there for me AND ALL Of his patients.
His attentiveness and concern was exemplary. A real friend and above all, A TRUE MENTCH, in the full sense of the word.
May his legacy continue to bless and inspire us.

Ken and I were medical resident buddies at PBBH-Harvard and also collaborated in a research project to define the physiological abnormalities in arthritis. He was an insightful researcher and gifted teacher, as well as an extraordinary physician. Ken had an insatiable curiosity for human biology. Our equally eccentric but complementary senses-of-humor made us natural scientific partners and friends. Ken will be sadly missed by me and many others. My condolences to his family, Ed
