LARI STANTON

STANTON--Lari.

President Joyce F. Brown, the administration, faculty, and students of the Fashion Institute of Technology mourn the death in September 2018 and celebrate the life of their good friend and dedicated supporter Lari Stanton. Leader of the family business which was formed in France in 1910 as Aris Glove Co., Lari built Aris Isotoner into one of the world's largest glove manufacturers. He was an innovator extraordinaire, introducing gloves made of spandex in the late 1960s and then creating the widely recognized brand of glove with the iconic and stylish Isotoner leather strips. He retired in 1993. Lari was equally dedicated to doing good and made a number of organizations his philanthropic interest. A lifelong believer in the benefits of exercise and healthy living, Lari and his wife, Barbara, an FIT alumna, helped realize the Lari and Barbara Stanton Fitness Center at FIT. He was passionate about his industry and visited the college frequently as a guest speaker to students. Other organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, the New York Foundling, DOROT, the Doe Fund, Night and Day High School of Manhattan Comprehensive, and Delivering Good also benefitted from his generosity. Gifts in Lari's memory may be made to FIT or any of these organ- izations. The FIT college community extends its sympathy with fondness and in remembrance.
