Lawrence Israel Obituary

ISRAEL--Lawrence J. With the passing of Lawrence J. Israel in Chicago on August 12, the world lost a unique and remarkable citizen. He was a man with a huge intellect and a joie de vivre as large as his more than ample frame. A long time superb golfer he was a regular member of our foursome and we spent many informative and blissful hours with him. Larry, or "Awrence" as we referred to him, was the rare individual who knew both royalty and the ordinary man, but who never lost the common touch. He was equally comfortable with both as they were with him. Awrence had many significant philanthropic interests and he made a positive impact on all that he touched. In addition to his recognized skill in the commodities industry, having fun was his mantra. Besides golf he loved horse racing, fishing and wagering on, as he said, "anything that moved." All was always in good taste and made everyone around him happier and with a true belief that they were lucky to know him. He lived his life breaking par every day. He is irreplaceable. Our deepest thanks go to him and our love to his magnificent wife, Ann and his family. Richard L. Siderowf Roger J. Weiss

Larry loved life so much - trading, the Saints, Tulane, golf and fishing. Always fun to be with -- his quick wit and eye for the well proportuned horse, athelete(or fine lady). He cared so much for his family, friends and New Orleans. We all will miss him a lot but am glad he finally is at peace & is resting.
