PERAHIA--Dr. Leon, age 94, died February 11, 2022, at his home in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Son of Henry and Esther Perahia of Salonika, Greece, Leon is survived by his wife of 74 years, Florence, his children, Beth Beyer, Andrew Perahia and Ellen Silberman (Alan), his grandchildren Jennifer Chachkes (Larry), Leah and David Silberman, and his adored great-grandchildren Nellie and Lee Chachkes. Leon grew up in Washington Heights, NY. He attended Williams College and graduated from Temple University Dental School and Columbia University Orthodontics. He served as captain in the US Air Force at Westover Field, MA. during the Korean conflict. He practiced orthodontia in Washington Heights for 66 years, with great dedication and love. Leon was all his life a man of integrity, deeply caring for his family, his patients, his friends and life in general. We will greatly miss him. Donations in his honor can be made to Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey.
