LEON ROSENBERG Obituary
ROSENBERG--Leon, passed away December 12, 2022, in San Diego, California at the age of 95. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Lee graduated from high school at the age of 15 in 1942 and graduated from The City College of New York in 1945. After serving in the US Navy, he graduated from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1948. His entire career was spent working in the textile industry, first at Hendor Mills (Paterson, NJ), then at Bangor Mills (Pen Argyl, PA), before becoming President of the Knitting Division at Collins & Aikman (New York, NY), and finally Senior Vice President at Guilford Mills (Greensboro, NC and New York, NY). After retiring in 1992, Lee established Delphi Associates (San Diego, CA), continuing as a private management consultant. Lee married Sonia (nee Caron) in 1951, enjoying 71 years together until his death. He was known for his intellect, humor, warmth, generosity, and love of travel, visiting 83 countries during his life. Family was always important to Lee: He coordinated the annual gathering of the Rosenberg cousins, plus, after reuniting with relatives in Moscow, tirelessly helped them in the 1990s escape an oppressive Russian regime. He cherished his involvement in the lives of his children and grandchildren, always sharing words of wisdom. He enjoyed the mental stimulation of his book and movie clubs and was involved in many aspects of life in his retirement community. Even in his final days, his desire and efforts to make his voice heard and to advocate for his fellow residents were not diminished by infirmity or the specter of his impending demise. Lee chose to donate his body to the University of California, San Diego, with the hope that this final act of selflessness would benefit medical education and research, to help future generations live longer, healthier lives. He was predeceased by son Dana and granddaughter Jenna. He is survived by his wife Sonia, sons Robert and James, sister Arline, daughter-in-law Catherine, son-in-law Anthony, daughter-in-law Karen, grandson Aaron and granddaughter-in-law Daisy, grandson-in-law Keelan, great- grandsons Max and Theodore, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
