LILA STERNGLASS Obituary

STERNGLASS--Lila (Kronstadt), a life-long New Yorker who worked as an advertising art director from 1969-1995, passed away on January 15, 2023 of natural causes at the Cobble Hill Health Center, Brooklyn. She was 89. She was a pioneering woman in advertising, who worked with prominent designers like Seymour Chwast and Milton Glaser at Pushpin Studios and later as creative director at several Madison Avenue advertising agencies. She innovated the medium and helped change the advertising industry, paving the way for women to rise to management which has left a lasting mark. Born in Brooklyn, New York on August 3, 1933, to Joseph and Sarah Kronstadt, she was the youngest of four. She graduated from James Madison High School in Brooklyn, then studied art at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York, New York. She earned a BFA degree in 1955 and met her husband, Arno Sternglass at an art class in 1956. He was a successful illustrator who died in 2007. She is survived by her son Paul (Sara) and Adam (Becky) and grandchildren Maximillian, Avery, Thomas, Abigail, Elizabeth, and Joseph. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cooper Union at cooper.edu/giving. A memorial service will be held later in the spring.

I'm married to Lila's late husband's cousin...sorry to hear this. I hadn't seen her since 2001.

Very sorry about your loss. The late Ernest Sternglass of Ithaca, NY has become of my greatest heros, due to his writing the book BEFORE THE BIG BANG (1997, 2001). I believe Ernest was Lisa's brother in law.
kind regards, Mark Creek-water Dorazio, amateur astrophysics enthusiast, Phoenix
