MARTIN BLANK Obituary

BLANK--Martin, Ph.D.,

died on June 13, 2018. Friend, colleague, mentor, visionary, exacting researcher, courageous inspiration. Dr. Blank was admired in academia, government, industry and activist circles for fearless honesty and ability to explain complex cellular bioelectromagnetics with accompanying environmental effects on tech-loving societies. Long-time faculty at the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University, New York, he was a principled, respected in-fighter in professional circles. Dr. Blank served at high organizational levels on many important regulatory entities throughout the United States and Europe. His research focused on the biophysics of membrane transport and electrochemistry of proteins. He established that living DNA can act as a fractal antenna, with very low-intensity nonionizing radiation -- endemic to all wireless technology and powerline transmission -- capable of producing heat shock proteins and cellular stress, resulting in cascading negative effects throughout the biome across species. In over 200 peer reviewed papers, 11 invited edited books for professionals, Congressional briefings, and a book for the lay audience, Dr. Blank blazed a path through popular disinformation, mapping safer ways to live in modern society. Dr. Martin Blank was an outstanding expert in the field of bioelectromagnetics and a truly inspirational scientist- he challenged the establishment with unbiased scientific truth when most scientists kept quiet not to upset the powers of the government and industry. He warned the world on the risks of excessive exposure to man-made electromagnetic radiation because he understood the biological impact of them. In a decade or two, when humanity will fully wake up to the massive destruction caused by our society's obsession with technology, in particular wireless technology, Dr. Blank will be hailed a hero globally. Until then, not many would know about the amazing contribution he has made to science. We have lost a great scientist.
Rest in peace Dr. Blank.
With deepest sympathies,
Dr. Priyanka Bandara, Australia.

Rest in peace, Dr. Blank, and thank you for your brilliance, courage and leadership in protecting the public from wireless radiation. Your legacy lives on in the new film Generation Zapped which just won Best Documentary at the D.C. Independent Film Festival. Thank you for your drive to conduct research, then teach the science and risks in terms the world can understand. You are dearly missed already. Heartfelt condolences to your beloved family.
