MARTIN DEUTSCH Obituary

DEUTSCH--Martin, passed away on May 2, 2022 at the age of 94 surrounded by loving family and friends in Tarrytown, NY. He was the beloved husband for 58 years to his late wife Joan and loving father of Aline and Scott Hillman and Madeline and Scott Kerbel. Marty's grandchildren Matthew, Michelle, Amanda, and Samantha gave him and Joan so much joy and pride. He was a devoted big brother to Jerry and Burt, loving Uncle to many and the doting owner and best friend to Latte the cat. With roots as a "Bronx boy," Marty enlisted in the Navy at 17 and then attended New York University. He spent the past five plus decades in Irvington, and most recently in Tarrytown. He loved the small town feel and interactions. Consistent with his welcoming and generous nature, he was blessed to have an incredibly wide and open circle of friends young and old, longtime and more recent, including neighbors, business associates, Irvington small business owners and Temple Beth Abraham staff and congregants. The Brightview staff and residents, who all became friends and part of the circle, provided him much care and comfort especially during this past year. He had a long (never really ending) career as a Forensic Accountant (CPA), devoting time to helping divorcees. In their spare time, he and Joan loved traveling all over the world, music, art and, of course, eating! Marty would have turned 95 on Sunday, May 22. Please have a mimosa in his memory, as he famously said, to prevent scurvy! Donations in his memory can be made to the following charity which supports rare pediatric cancers and is very dear to the family: The Jamie Deutsch Foundation, 2 Ashington Drive, Ossining, NY 10562.
