MARTIN GERBER Obituary

GERBER--Martin Allen. Martin Allen Gerber "Marty" died December 24, 2023 of Parkinson's disease. He's survived by wife Lynne, and children: Larry Gerber (Jill) of Franklin Park, NJ; Aimee Eastwood (Jim Rios) of Fort Collins, CO; Adam Gerber of Lawrence, NJ; Cara Baldwin (Ryan) of Fort Collins, CO; and grandchildren Wren and Obe Rios of Fort Collins, CO. Born August 9, 1942 to Sidney Gerber and Florence Klein, Marty grew up in Jamaica, Queens. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, honorably discharged. He graduated from Baruch College and spent 30+years working in securities trading on Wall Street, retiring from Security Pacific Bank in 1993. In 1967 he married Diane Grey and had three sons Larry, Adam and Brian, making a home in Somerset, NJ. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1987. In 1988 he married Lynne Birney Eastwood. Their union created a family they joked was like a modern Brady Bunch. Marty and Lynne lived in Hillsborough, NJ before moving to Hamilton, NJ. In 2015, Marty and Lynne moved to Colorado and soon Marty was diagnosed with Parkinson's. He fought the disease for eight years with Lynne as his caregiver in their home. Marty will be remembered as kind, generous and caring with quiet and gentle energy that strengthened his family. Donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's. A celebration of life will be held in the coming year.
