MARVIN LIPKOWITZ Obituary

LIPKOWITZ--Marvin H., MD. It is with deep sorrow that we record the passing of our esteemed friend and colleague. Dr. Lipkowitz's distinguished career at Maimonides spanned over three decades and impacted the lives of thousands of patients and countless students. He served as Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, inaugurated inpatient psychiatric services, and expanded educational programs. In 2002, he was awarded the Jack R. Aron Medal, the highest honor at Maimonides, in recognition of his many contributions to patient care and the field of psychiatry. An art gallery at the hospital's Community Mental Health Center was named in his honor. His legacy is one of service, scholarship and integrity. He was my psychotherapy supervisor. I´ll never forget that he gave me the best advice. He said that whatever modality of treatment I used, the thing that helped to heal my patients the most would be for them to feel loved.
