MICHAEL GRAVES

1972 - 2022

GRAVES--Michael Scott, doting father, husband, son, brother, and brilliant investor, died at the age of 49. His family is devastated by his early death but takes solace knowing that Michael led his life to the fullest, and enriched the lives of so many. In addition to his family, he leaves behind countless friends and colleagues from his formidable career in quantitative trading and investment management. Born on November 8, 1972 in Wakefield, MA, Michael was a strong student and possessed a curiosity about all aspects of the world. He attended Westchester East High School in Pennsylvania, where he excelled in mathematics and science. Michael graduated magna cum laude from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with a BS in Finance and minors in Genetics and International Relations. His tremendous intellect and curiosity made him the beneficiary of both the Benjamin Franklin Scholars and University Scholar programs. On November 12, 2006, Michael married Suzanne Seekit. They welcomed their adored twin boys in November 2009, Alexander and Hunter Graves. Michael is survived by Suzanne and their sons; by his parents, Paul and Judith Graves, and his sister Lisa Graves-Courtines. Michael had a successful and innovative career in finance. He co-founded and served as CIO of Nebula Research & Development, a firm focused on global multi-asset quantitative strategies. Prior to Nebula, Michael led various quantitative strategies at SAC/Cubist Systematic Strategies, Fortress Investment Group, Swiss Re, Credit-Suisse First Boston, and started his career at Cooper Neff. Michael will be remembered for his vast intellect, quick wit, wily sense of humor, and youthful spirit. Alexander and Hunter will treasure their dad's tremendous smile, his magic tricks, his passion for science fiction movies, and his fascination with all things weird and other-worldly.
