MUSIKER--Michael. Mike Musiker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, pass- ed away peacefully at Southampton, NY Hospital on October 15, at 93. Mike was a distinguished educator, counselor and entrepreneur, who transformed thousands of young (and not so young) peoples lives during his illustrious 60+ year career. Mike was born and raised in Boston, moved to Roslyn, New York for a teaching and coaching position in 1956, and spent the rest of his life in the New York metropolitan area and Palm Desert, California -- never losing his Boston accent. He received his BA and MA from Northeastern University, was a guidance counselor and teacher at the Manhasset Public schools for 25 years and was a pioneer in the then emerging field of Independent Educational Consultants. He was also Youth Director of Temple Judea of Manhasset for 25 years. Mike and his wife (of 66 years) Judy also owned Camp Kewanee in the Catskills, and founded Musiker Student Tours and Summer Discovery in 1966, a leading student travel and education organization that still thrives today under the Summer Discovery name. Mike's work and mentorship positively impacted the lives of youth and adults around the world. A gifted leader, storyteller and public speaker, Mike enthralled audiences large and small his entire adult life. He is survived by his wife and soulmate Judy, sons Bobby (Sharon) and Jimmy (Jill), grandchildren Jake (Tara), Ashley (Andrew) and Casey (Jenny), and great-grandchildren Mo, Isla, Georgie and Clare; who all will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, October 20, 3:00pm at Temple Judea of Manhasset, NY.
