MICHAEL RADOW Obituary

RADOW--Michael. Mike, age 79, of New York City, passed away on January 19, 2023 in New York City. Born January 6, 1944, he was the son of Dr. Isaac Radow and Florence (Tuckel) Radow (both deceased). After his family moved to Mount Vernon in 1950, Mike graduated from A. B. Davis High School in 1961. He received his bachelor's, MBA, and MLS degrees from Columbia University. A man of many interests, Mike was a saxophonist, ham radio operator, jazz aficionado, sculptor, collagist, photographer, and collector. Mike was a recording engineer at A & R Recording and one of the youngest members of the sound and cinematography union. In a wide and varied career, his most recent position was as a venture capitalist specializing in technology and medical science. A consummate New Yorker and Renaissance man, Mike is survived by partner Mary Woods, siblings Andrew, Laurel and Elisabeth and nephews Jonathan and Geoffrey. A celebration of Mike's life will follow later this year. Donations in Mike's memory can be made to WKCR, Columbia University's radio station, where he was an engineer, host of an interview program, and lifelong listener. https://www.cc-seas.columbia.edu/wkcr/

Michael was such an important part of my life. The news of his loss leaves me numb. I would be happy to hear from any of his friends or family and to be able to express my condolences to them personally.

Mike was Chock full o' Information. Pick a topic and he had it covered. The consummate, charismatic, conversationalist.
I feel cheated yet honored knowing him roughly a dozen short years.
My condolences to Mary and all those who knew and loved him,he is surely missed.

This makes me very sad. Mike and I were in phone contact for a few months shortly before he died. We were constantly interrupting each other to share memories, thoughts and suggestions. I live in No.CA; he contacted me, spontaneously, out of the blue and began strongly insisting that I begin writing poetry again. So I did. I was and am grateful to him for that. I still have a file of his emails which I intend to keep. Good bye Mike and thank you.

As most know, Michael was my dear friend for 60+ years. I will miss him. I DO miss him. Many family and friends know that I was supposed to meet with him the night he didn't show up. Very sad.

I am so glad I got to visit with Mike at Beth's early Thanksgiving in November of 2022. He was at his most urbane and charming. That's how I will remember him. Rest in peace, Mike. Condolences and love to all the family and friends.
