Mr. Farmer took the time to make the phone calls to help me keep my goats; an animal rescue friend had recommended him. He asked me what was really going on. I said that we were women, gay and Northerners. He had appealed to the other party's fathers' devotion to justice. He was my hero. He didnt charge me a dime. Only spoke on the phone a couple times but i could tell he was kind, jovial but fiercely dedicated to right, especially those not so likely to get it.

Millard was the best! He fought extra hard for civil rights, and I am proud that I was one of his colleagues as well as a good friend. He will be missed, and I do not believe that anyone can fill that gap! Rest well - your mission was accomplished, and we can only go forward with the tools that you left. RIP!

What a courageous man, and how profoundly humane and brilliant he was! I thank my lucky stars that I got to meet and to know him and to read about his cases and to listen to audio of his stunning work in court. He was uncompromising in the important ways, and somehow, while fighting an often lonely and difficult fight for justice and equality, he maintained such a loving spirit and joy in life and zest for connecting people with each other. Truly remarkable. We shall not see his like again. And I shall never stop hearing his voice in my head and remembering his warm and gorgeous smile.

Millard Farmer was one of those many who showed me another way, inspired me, taught me, helped me to lift my voice and move my feet in the struggle for justice. Millard always took my phone calls and almost as often became our legal go-to person when we needed his presence in Southwest Georgia in the 1990s-2000s (years after he woke folks in Terrell County!). Thank you Millard, Kimellen, Joe and so many others who were a part of the "team" John Cole Vodicka, Athens, GA

I'll never forget that resonant voice and those rolled up sleeves. When I was new to the abolition movement, new to the South, Millard was a fascinating combination of inspiration and iconoclasm. My condolences to his family.

Millard Farmer was an exceptional person, compassionate and loving of his fellow man. He was an outstanding lawyer. I enjoyed his sense of humor and his kindness to everyone he came in contact with.He was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. He was an asset to Newnan, Georgia, known nationally for his work for human rights.

Millard was my attorney. The world has lost the best it had to offer in the legal community. I wish I had time to tell him how much I appreciated his love for the law, our country, and the Constitution. To his children, whom I do not know, I hope and pray that your grief will not be beyond what you can bear. I lost my father 18 months ago and he knew your Dad and liked him a lot. The two of them really hit it off.
I hope you will keep up the spirit of your Dad's fight for justice. We can't have too much of it.
May God give you the strength you need.

Millard Farmer, Jr. was my first cousin. His father and my mother, Mollie Farmer Ely, were brother and sister. I have many fond memories of Millard.
He was always a happy-go lucky guy.
We have lost a good one!

The State has no constitutional right to take the lives of its citizens.
If I had a dollar for every time I heard that statement from Millard Farmer during my semester of Criminal Law at the Woodrow Wilson College of Law, I could have retired at age 40. Millard Farmer emphatically formulated my lifelong attitudes toward social justice and the American judicial system.
Rest in peace, Millard.

My condolences to the family. My mother, Mollie Boyd, speaks with her first cousin, Dr. Mollie Camp Davis, and they enjoyed having third party telephone calls with their first cousin Millard. I enjoyed hearing their fun conversations. I know everyone is mourning Millard's passing. He was loved and admired by his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Millard Farmer was my criminal law professor at Woodrow Wilson Law School in the late 1970s; His passion for representing his clients was one of the reasons I became a criminal defense lawyer, now for over 40 years. Imagine my surprise last year when I learned Eleanor, my neighbor, was Millard's daughter! Eleanor, please accept my condolences for your loss.
