Nathan and I worked closely together when I was President of AIGA. He carried the unabridged history of design and typography around in his nimble brain, and was blessed with total recall. Nathan was intelligent, witty, artistic, and loyal. He remained a friend. With all his talents and humanity, small wonder we miss him now.

Nathan was a invaluable member of the staff of the American Institute of Graphic Arts for 19 years. He was an encyclopedic advocate of graphic design, an imaginative artist, a crafty and ingenious wit who made us guffaw, a friend. He made a unique contribution to an organization in the midst of profound growth and change and will be remembered with great fondness.
