NEIL TUCKER Obituary

TUCKER--Neil R. It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we mourn the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Neil R. Tucker, on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the too young age of 66. Neil joined the Real Estate practice at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel in 1998, having previously been a partner at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro. He was among the most highly respected real estate lawyers in New York City, representing institutional investors, real estate developers, tenants, hedge funds and private equity funds in real estate purchases and sales, financings, joint ventures, restructurings, leases and development in New York and nationwide. He retired from Kramer Levin in December 2020 after a legal career spanning four decades. A longtime resident of Scarsdale, NY, Neil was born on February 2, 1956. He received a B.A. from Brandeis University in 1978 (attending the London School of Economics in 1977) and his J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 1981. He was married for 33 years to the love of his life, Mindy, and together they raised daughters Melissa (Ben) and Samantha. Neil always gave his all. When any of his colleagues needed a lawyer, he was our lawyer. When we needed a friend, he was our friend. When we needed an ally, a mentor, an advocate, a role model or even advice we might not have wanted to hear, but needed to hear, he was there. What was personal to us was personal to Neil. He was all in, whenever called on. His moral compass was always true north, and he guided us all with love and loyalty. Clients understood these tremendous personal qualities as well as his keen legal talent and exceptional business judgment, and those with whom Neil worked not surprisingly displayed strong loyalty, with relationships lasting for years. Their appreciation for his abilities and his dedication to resolving their most pressing concerns led many to seek Neil's input and approval before finalizing critical decisions. To them and to many others, he was a trusted advisor of the highest order. We the partners, attorneys and staff of Kramer Levin extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Neil's family. Condolences may be sent to Mindy Tucker, 8 Seneca Rd., Scarsdale, NY 10583. The family requests that donations be sent in his memory to Experience Camps or the Jewish Programs Division of Westchester Jewish Community Services, two organizations that mattered to Neil and to which he gave generously.

I had the pleasure of being mentored by Neil, briefly. I only saw his charm, never his toughness. He gave me the best legal writing advice ("just write what you mean to say"), and I still apply it daily. He was a meticulous in his practice of law, while always being a gentle, caring and kind colleague. I am saddened by his passing and will miss his presence.

Neil was a colleague, mentor and friend. We worked closely together on firm real estate projects and his wise counsel was invaluable. We shared a common devotion to family and he spoke often and glowingly of his bride Mindy and his girls. Family travels, daughters at school, life in Scarsdale all brought a smile. Neil wad candid, but never mean - smart but never superior, insightful but never sightless. He was a dear friend whom I will always remember.
