I am 79 years old...living in Marin County , California where I relocated with my family after high school. I attended PS # 5 in Cedarhurst , NY from kindergarten through eighth grade . Mr. Farina caught me smoking in the boiler room of PS #5 and exacted appropriate punishment as follows:
1. Required me to write a 1000 word essay on the evils of smoking .
2. Twisted my ear causing me some discomfort.
On a visit back to Cedarhurst some years later, I encountered him walking in
Cedarhurst park and we both had a hearty laugh about the incident .
He was pleased to know that I never touched a cigarette after that memorable
experience.
He was great guy !

Dear Terry&Tommy,
Your Dad&Mom were my dearest of friends. They helped me to make a very important decision that would effect
the rest of my life. They convinced me
to attend Bucknell University (so did
three of our children). I will always
remenber your Dad and the influence he
had in who and what I am today......
I will miss them both.

My husband and I send our condolences to the family. We will always have Nick and Kitty firmly implanted in our hearts. Nick was my husband's football coach and I knew Nick as principal of #5 and as mayor. He loved his town, loved his school/community children and loved his own children.
Though it's been a while since the Farinas were in the Five Towns, they left a wonderful legacy here and it will never be forgotten.

I too foldly remember Mr. Farina both as my principal for eight years beginning in 1952 at Number 5 (assisted by his able secretary, Mrs. Burke)and as a camper. I attended Branch Girls where, if I remember correctly, he was camp director. I will never forget his kind ways and would like to send sincere sympathy to the family.

I remember Mr. Farina fondly as the principal of Number 5 School in Cedarhurst. I was a student there from Kindergarten to 8th grade from 1949-1957. My condolences to his family.
