NINA VON MALTZAHN

VON MALTZAHN--Nina. The trustees and staff of the American Academy in Berlin mourn the passing of longtime friend, trustee, and patron Nina von Maltzahn (nee Gorrissen). An original member of the American Academy in Berlin's board, Nina helped steer our institution from its infancy and remained a source of inspiration for more than two decades. She magnanimously spearheaded the refurbishment of the Academy's grounds and residential units in our Wannsee villa - the erstwhile home of her mother, Ellen Maria Gorrissen, and grandparents Hans and Ludmilla Arnhold. Nina's dedication to the arts brought performers from the Curtis Institute of Music to the Academy, and her support of Berlin Prize winners made possible our twice-annual Fellows Presentation. The American Academy in Berlin is profoundly fortunate to have had such a long and meaningful relationship with this extraordinary woman.
