NORMAN SCHULMAN Obituary

SCHULMAN--Dr. Norman, passed away on March 24, 2026. Born in 1939, he spent his youth in Asbury Park, NJ. He earned is B.A. and M.D. degrees from Tufts. As Director of Plastic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, he was instrumental in shaping the department and training generations of surgeons. His legacy as a pioneer in the field of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery will be remembered by the countless lives he touched with his work. A Navy veteran, Dr. Schulman served on the USS Boxer in 1967-68 and in the Naval Reserves for more than 20 years. He was active in the New York Yacht Club and Sea Cliff Yacht Club. He enjoyed mentoring competitive sailors at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and New York Merchant Marine Academy. He traveled to Bermuda nine times as the skipper of his own boat. He also loved skiing, motorcycles, fishing, skeet shooting and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Schulman is survived by his siblings, Susan Osborne (Stephen) and Tobi Traub (David); his children Lori Schulman (Klaus), Barbra Schulman, Carolyn Katz (Neal) and Andrew Schulman (Alison); his stepdaughters Ellice Schwab (Bradley) and Amy Milford (Matthew); and his grandchildren Aaron, Ian, Kate, Max, Hester, Jacob, Flora, and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Schulman, who passed away in 2024. Dr. Schulman's passion, dedication to excellence and love of life will be missed by family and friends. His legacy as a leader in both the medical and sailing communities will be felt for years to come.
