PAUL MARCUS Obituary

MARCUS--Paul. On Saturday, May 14, 2022, Paul Marcus, loving husband and stepfather, passed away at the age of 87. Paul was born on September 9, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY to Edward and Frances Marcus. He attended Poly Prep where he received the All-City football award. He attended Williams College and graduated in 1956 with a degree in History. Paul worked at A.G. Becker & Co. and at Bear Stearns as Managing Director. Paul was passionate about travel, food, music, theater, and art and served on the Arizona Musicfest and Phoenix Art Museum boards. He was a member of the City Athletic Club, East Hampton Tennis Club, Noyac Golf Club, and Desert Mountain Golf Club. He was an excellent squash and tennis player but found golf challenging even though he managed to have two holes-in-one. He was a charitable contributor to Arizona Musicfest, Mayo Clinic, St. Mary's Food Bank, and Williams College. Paul was quick witted, fun-loving, and enriched the lives of those around him. He lived a wonderful, full life and was adored by his family and close friends. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and his mother, Frances. He is survived by his wife, Merle, his two step-children, Andrew (Heather) Strauss and Gregory (Jenn- ifer) Strauss, and his four grandchildren Nicholas, Joseph, Brandon, and Aidan.
