Peter,
My condolences on the loss of your father. I remember meeting your father in my senior year at Andover during a visit to your home in Greenwich. I recall telling him that I wanted to be a lawyer and he responded in such glowing terms about the profession. As a practising attorney, I realize that his words remain true to this day.

I met your Dad in the fall of 1947 as freshmen at Princeton. We were fast friends, playing baseball for 4 yrs, joining cottage club, rooming together in our senior yr. and being at his and Jane's wedding. My son, Dave, and i visited Pete a month ago, at which time he wrote (could not speak becuz of the tracheotomy) that he feared he would never leave the hospital alive. He was a joy to know and be friends with, and there are so many stories, mostly humorous, that could be told. So now, Weeden, Weiland, Beattie and Fleming are gone, and Iler, Reydel and I are here. Pete and his family are in our thoughts alot these days. We have lost a good friend.

Mr. Fleming was a mentor to my brother, Myles, at Curtis. Further, Mr. Fleming hosted my brother, Father and me at Eastward Ho! in 2006 & 2007. A true gentleman...and quite a character. Please accept my sincere condolences.
