PETER SCHWEEN

SCHWEEN--Dr. Peter H., 94, died peacefully at his home in New York City on June 12. Beloved husband (to Audrey Schween, deceased), father (to cellist Astrid Schween), brother, uncle, and friend of many. Born to German parents working in Surabaya, Indonesia, Peter emigrated from Germany, where he received his medical degree from the University of Hamburg, to the US, where he completed his medical studies. He had a long and distinguished career as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice and at Harlem Hospital, where he ran a clinic, as well as Albert Einstein and Gracie Square hospitals. His affiliations included Columbia University. Peter's grace, intelligence, kindness, elegance, and insatiable curiosity will be greatly missed. Funeral services at The Riverside Church, 490 RSD, NYC, Saturday, June 18 at 9am.
