NEXON--Phillip Joseph,

of Guilford, Connecticut, Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Born March 18, 1928 in Boston, Phil is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda, five children and four grandchildren. He was a graduate of the University of Chicago and Harvard Law School where he was an Editor of the Law Review. After service as a LTJG USN from 1951 to 1953, he practiced law at the Boston firm of Goulston and Storrs for more than 50 years. He joined the Beth Israel Hospital Board of Trustees in 1967 and served as Chairman from 1986-1988. Phil moved to Vermont with Linda and his two young children in 1991 and taught at Vermont Law School as an Adjunct Professor of Law. In 2001, he was appointed by Governor Howard Dean to Vermont's District 1 Environmental Commission. Phil and Linda relocated to Guilford, Connecticut in 2010, where he enjoyed life close to the beautiful Connecticut coastline. He was an accomplished private pilot and avid reader of The New York Times. Phil lived a full life, always with kindness, generosity, and absolute love of family.
