PRESTON BROWN

BROWN--Preston, III. Preston Brown III, 88, died peacefully after a long illness on August 30, 2025 in Washington, D.C. Born in New York City to John Mason Brown and Catherine Brown, he graduated from Harvard University and began his career at Davis Polk before serving in the Johnson Administration at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He then joined Curtis, Mallet Prevost, Colt & Mosle in the D.C. office, becoming a managing partner specializing in International Trade Law. He is survived by his two children Catherine St. George Brown Collins and John Preston Brown from his marriage to Betsey Pinckney Brown Apple, granddaughter Charlotte Douglas Collins, and numerous relatives and friends who remember his generosity, charm, and infectious laugh.
