RALPH SESSIONS Obituary
His family mourns the loss of Ralph DeWitt Sessions III, who passed away on September 14 after a long illness. Ralph, a renowned historian and expert in American Art, was for the past ten years the director of special projects for DC Moore Gallery in New York City. He is survived by his wife Spring Sessions, his brother Glenn Sessions, his two sisters Jane Kiernan and Susan Zuccotti, six nieces and nephews, and eleven great- nieces and great-nephews.

I just now heard of his passing and I send my heartfelt condolences to his family. We were doctoral students together and continued a friendship and working relationship over the years. He loved his field and a trusted dear colleague. I will miss him as will the art community.

I am so sorry, I knew Ralph when we both studied in Paris in 1970-71 and though we did not stay in touch, I have always remembered him as a special person. My heart goes out to his loved ones.

I regret that I was not fortunate enough to know Ralph well. But I know enough about his work to know that he will be sorely missed by the American art community. And that he had a very kind smile. Ralph was, in large part, responsible for bringing Andy and me together. We celebrate our 40th anniversary soon. Fond, fond memories of times together with Ralph, Glenn, Tricia and a host of others. Our deepest condolences to Spring, to Glenn and family.

I was fortunate to have met him at Spanierman Gallery and remained in touch during his productive and satisfying term at DCMoore Gallery.
