Rebecca Blitz

BLITZ--Rebecca (Reva), April 9, 1922-March 17, 2008. Beloved mother to her two treasured daughters and sons-in-law, Trudy LaPan Edelman and Richard Edelman, Abigail LaPan Stamou and Telis Stamou. Devoted and adored wife of the late Dr. Calman Blitz, her soulmate. Loving sister to Herman (Hank) Soifer, his wife Arlene and caring aunt to their children and grandchildren. Born Rebecca Soifer in Russia, Reva lived and worked in NYC since arriving here as a baby. Hunter College alumna, Brooklyn resident and dedicated teacher at PS99 (then named Reva LaPan) she was an art lover, a feminist, a liberal, a Zionist and an advocate for the hearing impaired and for all people. She continued her studies at Brooklyn College until her recent illness. Reva is also survived by family and friends in the Americas, Israel and Europe.
