REBECCA STEIN Obituary

STEIN--Rebecca (Becky) Kramer, an accomplished dancer, artist and political/social activist, died on April 8, 2014 two days short of her 98th birthday. At an early age she got a scholarship to study dance with Hanya Holmes. A founding member of the New Dance Group, she later became the dancing partner of Jack Cole, the father of theatrical jazz dance. After a long run at the Rainbow Room they toured the world, eventually ending-up dancing for the Ziegfeld Follies. After her dance career, she became a sculptor and a collage artist. She is survived by her son Marc Narkus-Kramer, her daughter AAshiel Blue Sill (nee Deborah Kramer), her stepson Dr. Peter Stein, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Becky...warm, funny, down to earth, artistic to her toes... and one of the most fiercely loyal friends I've ever had. We won't see her like again. My life is brighter because Becky was in it. A bow to a life that filled to the brim.

Dear Blue, Cait, Cory, Coby, Ron, Adrian, Leon, Jessica, Kirsten and family and to all of the Greatgrand Children,

We were sincerely sorry to hear of your loss. We only met her a few times, but her humor and wisdom was abundantly clear dispite her dibilating disease. How very blessed your family is to have experienced such a bright light in your lives.

Love,

Yuki, Lucy and Peter

My Grandmother. I love her dearly and miss her greatly. She was such a loving, generous, beautiful woman. She will always be a source of inspiration for my art and my spirit.
