RICARDO SCOFIDIO Obituary

SCOFIDIO--Ricardo. The Board of Friends of the High Line expresses deep sadness for the passing of architect Ric Scofidio, and immense gratitude for his work, which is forever memorialized in the design of the park. His deft touch as part of the design team for the High Line captured the magic of the space, allowing people from around the world to experience New York City in new and revealing ways. Ric Scofidio has left an indelible mark on New York City, and his innovative take on designing leaves a unique legacy on the world of architecture that will be felt for generations to come. We send our heartfelt condolences to Liz Diller, the Scofidio family, and the entire Diller Scofidio + Renfro team. Photo: Barry Munger.

Not only was Uncle Ric my paternal uncle and godfather, he was also a reader of my fiction, in fact my benchmark - he loved my current WIP so I knew it was good. He even helped me correct a "looney tune" building in my first novel. I miss our emails so much. I feel great privilege to have not only been related to him, but to have enjoyed his friendship. I was a student of Ric and classmate of Liz at Cooper Union. Ric always very thoughtful and generous. It was a privilege to have studied under him and to have collaborated with Liz. I learned a lot from both of them.
