CARR--Richard "Dick" F. December 4, 1934 - February 12, 2025. Richard F. "Dick" Carr of Manlius, NY, formerly of NYC, Gladwyne, PA, Atlanta, GA and Old Town Alexandria, VA passed away on February 12, 2025. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Phyllis (Edelstein) of Manlius, NY and brother Paul, he is survived by four children by Joyce Carr of Gladwyne - Richard F. Carr, Jr. (Laura) of Bethesda, MD, Leah Carr (Nick) of NYC, Maria Carr (Eric) Ocean View, DE and John Carr (Michele) of Walnut Creek, CA. Also survived by his grandchildren Harry, Teddy, Katie (Zach), Chloe, Michael (Melania), Stephanie, Allison, Caroline and great-grandchild Joice. Born in Brooklyn, NY and the first child of Richard and Rosary Caracciolo, he attended primary and high school on Staten Island, NY and in 1956 earned a B.S. in Economics from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY. He was selected in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. An ROTC graduate, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve. Nationally prominent and known as a radio executive, Dick was a Vice President for ABC and Mutual Radio Networks, executive producer for a variety of national radio programs featuring Larry King, Dick Clark and others. He was Radio Group Vice President for the Meredith Corporation, and one of the original general managers hand-picked by Chairman John W. Kluge for Metromedia, Inc. in 1960. Metromedia, Inc. went on to be an important public company with influence in a variety of broadcasting and entertainment divisions. He managed some of America's great radio stations; WNEW-FM, NY, WNEW-AM 1130 in NY, WIP and WMMR in Philadelphia, WIL, St. Louis, WGST, Atlanta, and KCMO, Kansas City. He is listed as a Broadcast Pioneer of Philadelphia. Also known in other forms of advertising, he was Senior Vice President of Advertising and Promotion for Macy's Inc. and Vice President and General Manager of Park Outdoor, Syracuse. Prominent in recent years as an on-air and Internet Radio Broadcaster, he established the well- known syndicated network and internet radio show, Dick Carr's Big Bands Ballads and Blues heard on WOR, NY and over 80 stations nationwide each weekend.
