RICHARD FELDSTEIN Obituary

FELDSTEIN--Richard, beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather, died Sunday in New York City. He was 82. Born in Providence, Rhode Island to Lillian Filler and Sydney Feldstein, he grew up with his sisters Lois and Leslie. He worked part-time at his father's grocery store before leaving for Dartmouth College, where he earned a B.S. and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business. After graduation, he worked for several years as an accountant at Arthur Anderson before embarking on an extensive and successful career as an investor and manager of industrial and real estate businesses. He worked for decades alongside numerous investment partners and through his company Richfel Associates. He met Judy, the love of his life, during their college years. They wed in 1963 and lived happily in New York City for nearly sixty years. With Judy, he raised two daughters, who, along with his grandchildren, were his life's greatest joys. Richard adored New York City and cherished its museums, theater, ballet, restaurants, parks, and Rangers games. To his core, he was a compassionate, intellectual, and charitable man. He belonged to Central Synagogue and was a long-term member at the Harmonie Club, where he frequented the squash courts and swimming pool. For years, he enjoyed summer months with his family in Weston, Connecticut. He was an ex-President, tennis champion, and friend to many at Birchwood Country Club. Above all, Richard was a devoted family man and friend, unrelenting in his support for those around him. He is loved and remembered by Judy, Lois and her husband Tom, his daughters Liz and Julie, his son-in-law Chris, and his four grandchildren, Jessica, Lily, Nick, and Ryan. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 22nd at 9:30am at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Richie and Barry Alperin were early childhood friends in Providence,RI.I joined them as a 3rd roommate at Dartmouth College now 64 years ago.Our friendship has continued over the years in spite of the distance from NYC to Marblehead,Mass. For the past many years we would arrange to meet for several days on Nantucket each summer. He was a smart, capable, gentle soul who was devoted to his family. There was a bond in our friendship that never changed.I will miss him greatly and hope his family will cope with the loss of someone who should have lived forever.
