Hampton. The Board of Trustees and members of the North Carolina Society of New York note with profound sadness the loss of our distinguished member and longtime Trustee, Richard Hampton Jenrette. Throughout his lifetime of business distinction and generosity to others, he always remained faithful to his beloved home state of North Carolina and our Society. We will miss him greatly and extend our deepest sympathies to his family and many friends.

The Last Gentleman on Wall Street. A class act and a brilliant leader. I'll never forget Dick graciously inviting us into his homes, and making us feel important, appreciated and welcome. He literally saved and restored The Equitable, preserving its great name and tradition. What a monumental loss of a truly great man.
