Dick was a good friend and mentor. When I was "growing up" in the apparel industry, he took the time to give me advice and support when I needed it - even if sometimes I didn't think that I did!
My favorite memory of Dick was when I was promoted to a Buyer at Jos. A. Bank. Many in the industry, who had disregarded me before that were now calling because I had the ability to place orders. Dick, true to form, called me up to congratulate me and said "So, you are a buyer now - how do you feel?" I responded that it really felt no different than it did before. He responded "Of course it doesn't, you are still a schmuck!"
Whether it was thru humor, or in other ways, Dick taught be quite a bit that I carry with me today. He was a friend, a mentor and I will miss him.

GOOD TIMBER by Douglas Malloch
The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.
The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.
Good timber does not grow with ease:
The stronger the wind, the stronger the trees;
The further the sky, the greater the length;
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men, good timbers grow.
Where thickest lies the forest growth,
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.

What a wonderful legacy Richard Liebowitz left through his children and grandchildren. Cheryl's dad, Richard was a classy, loving, giving epitome of a true gentleman and I am grateful that that I met him through his beautiful daughter, Cheryl. Our friendship began on the LIRR and has continued on. Richard will live on in his wife, children and grandchildren's hearts forever. God Bless and keep all of you in this sad and difficult time.
Loving thoughts and prayers from your dear friends. Kathy Ramcharitar and Eric Frank.
