Dick was a remarkable person who had many gifts. The gift that always stood out to me is how he showed interest and enthusiasm in everyone who he met. He made people feel special and always worthwhile. He married my wife (his granddaughter) and me eleven years ago and his words of advice are still quoted today in our household. He instilled an interest in chess in our first child at the age of 5. He was always patient, and you could see joy in both of their faces when they played together. Dick will be missed by our family, but his legacy will live on forever in his teachings, books, and love for all.
