RITA WOLFSON Obituary

WOLFSON--Rita P. Rita P. Wolfson died on Thursday, July 7th. Born in Brooklyn, always ahead of herself in school, she forged a career out of her talents and passions writing and editing cookbooks and other non-fiction. She got engaged to her husband over the Memorial Day weekend in 1966, on their third date. He was so smitten by her, it was an act of restraint to wait that long. There were no regrets after 56 years and three daughters, only some strong disagreements about how to best load the dishwasher. Rita was loving and funny and brave and mouthy. She taught her daughters to appreciate theater and art, good food, and traveling and to move through the world with kindness and integrity, as she did. In addition to her family and countless friends left colder without her warmth, she leaves behind five cookbooks, and a legacy of spoiled dogs, full stomachs, good guidance, and boundless joy. Should anyone wish to make any contributions in remembrance, please consider a contribution in Rita's memory to the New York Public Library, the Bristol Area Library (P.O. Box 173, New Harbor, Maine 04554) or the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access.
