ROBERT BEREN Obituary

BEREN--Robert M. Yeshiva University deeply mourns the passing of our cherished Trustee and Benefactor, Robert M. Beren, whose vision and generosity touched so many parts of the University. A dedicated leader and extraordinary philanthropist, Mr. Beren served as Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees, on which he served for more than three decades. Inspired by his own experience, Mr. Beren was deeply committed to both Jewish and secular education, leaving his imprint on many institutions through his support. His transformative investment in Yeshiva University included YU's Midtown Campus, which was named the Israel Henry Beren Campus in honor of his uncle; the Israel Henry Beren Floor at Cardozo Law School; and the Robert M. Beren Department of History. The University conferred upon him an honorary doctor of humane letters degree in 1987 in recognition of his significant service. Even with his many laudable achievements, Mr. Beren pointed to his loving children, each of whom have followed in his footsteps as impactful leaders, as his greatest accomplishment. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his son Adam Beren (Ellen), his daughters, Amy Beren Bressman (Robert), Nancy T. Beren (Dr. Larry S. Jefferson), Julie Beren Platt (Marc), to his grandchildren; and to the entire Beren family. May the family find comfort among those who mourn for Zion and Jerusalem. Yeshiva University Dr. Ari Berman, President Ira Mitzner, Chairman of the Board
