ROBERT CAMPBELL Obituary

CAMPBELL--Dr. Robert. Dr. Robert "Bobby" Burns Campbell, born July 1, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 in Boca Raton, FL surrounded by his immediate family and business partner of over sixty years. He was 82. Robert B. Campbell and his three sisters were raised by a single mother in Pittsburgh, PA. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; his loving children, Robert, Jr., Dana and Seth; and his cherished grandchildren, Dior, Sadie, Lila, Ava and Sailor. Bob will be buried in Southampton, NY, close to his summer home that he loved so much. At a very young age, Bob always knew that he would start his own company and in 1975, that dream became a reality; BBC International, Inc. was born. The reputation of BBC International as one of the top leading full-service footwear suppliers in the world is something that Bob took great pride in. Through his leadership, BBC has remained at the forefront of the industry with its innovative approach to business -- eye on technology -- strong brand partnerships and vision to deliver against a model that serviced "any type of customer." His commitment to the business, the customer and his staff is the foundation that enabled BBC to become an iconic company within the footwear industry. For over 63 years, Bob served as a pioneer, visionary, philanthropist, friend and mentor to many within the footwear industry. He has been recognized for his Lifetime of Leadership through multiple industry awards. Beyond the footwear industry, he has served on multiple charity boards that have been close to his heart. In 2017, Mr. Campbell received an honorary doctorate degree by Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. His spirit and zest to live life to the fullest as well as his unwavering philanthropic commitment to these organizations and to all that know him is what he will be remembered for most. Donations can be made to the Two Ten Foundation in Bob's memory at their website by going to https://twoten.org/giving/ donate/campbell-legacy/ Visitation and services will be held in both Boca Raton and New York City as follows. I had the pleasure of getting to know Mr. Campbell through the University of Detroit Mercy, where he, his sister and his neices left a legacy as attendees, graduates and colleagues. His charasmatic personality highlighted his intellect, courage, kindness and generosity - it was easy to see his affection and enthusiasm for the good people in his life and the work that inspired him. It was such an honor to know him. My heartfelt sympathy to his family and his BBC team - may he rest in Peace.

I knew Bob for I believe 40 years. Never met a man with so much energy and drive. I remember him showing me a plastic light mechanism and saying he was going to put it in shoes. I was thinking... this is really a crazy idea....lol...the difference between his thinking and mine is evident.. Mr Campbell... you will be missed. RIP

Uncle Bob was larger than life, hard to imagine him gone. I picture him now at peace with his mother, my grandmother, and his sisters, all who adored him and to whom he was so good. He was so good to all the family, his accomplishments are legendary but with us he was Uncle Bob, so full of love, laughter and family stories. To Robbie, Seth and Dana and your children and to Barbara, we send deepest sympathy and love. Your loss is great but the love left in all of you from and for Bobbie lives on. Robert Burns Campbell was a remarkable man, the stuff books are written about. I am blessed to have been a loved niece. May perpetual light shine upon you, Uncle Bob.

He was more than a man in the shoe industry. He was a great son and brother. Hes Mom was my Aunt and she always knew she could count on him for anything she needed. My father George Stoecklein and my Uncle Bernard were his biggest supporters from day one. They taught him the importance of honesty and character.

Bob was a great friend and business associate. To me he was the most
honorable, trusting and loyal person I have had the good fortune to know/
He will be sorely missed.

Jesse & I are so saddened to hear of Bobby's passing. We have been such good friends since the 1960's when we met skiing in Vermont. We were all young and trying to make it in the world and Bob succeeded above us all, but remained a true friend throughout his life. He will be truly missed. Our condolences and our prayers are with you all.
