ROBERT DOUGLASS Obituary

DOUGLASS--Robert.

It is with great sadness that we confirm that Robert R. Douglass has left us after a wonderful life. He was at his home in Connecticut surrounded by family and friends to the end. He was an amazing husband, father, friend, mentor and public servant. He was and will always remain a big part of our lives. His passion for the betterment of Downtown Lower Manhattan was unwavering for his entire career. He was involved in the planning and the initial build of the World Trade Center and Battery Park City in the late 60's and the rebuild of the Freedom Tower and surrounding area post September 11th, 2001. For these reasons, we feel a gathering of friends and family at Trinity Church in Lower Manhattan to celebrate his life would be most fitting. Further details will follow in the coming months. There will be a private family service for him in Greenwich, CT next week. In the spirit of creating beauty and fostering renewal in Lower Manhattan, the family requests that memorial donations be made to New Yorkers For Parks' Daffodil Project at ny4p.org/ donate or NY4P, 55 Broad St., 23rd Fl., NY, NY, 10004." -- Mrs. Linda Douglass, Robert, Jr., Brooke and Andrew
