ROBERT DOW Obituary

DOW--Robert S. Weill Cornell Medicine is profoundly saddened by the loss of our dear friend and esteemed benefactor Robert Dow. Bob, a financial industry veteran who inspired many with his kindness and passion, joined our Board of Fellows in 2013, and served with distinction on three committees: Clinical Affairs/Physician Organization; Development/ Campaign Executive; and Student Affairs and Education, of which he was the current committee chair. Extraordinarily generous with his philanthropy and spirit, Bob, along with his wife, Christina Seix, believed strongly in the value of education and worked tirelessly to help students achieve their career aspirations. Notably, they created the Dow Family Scholarship in 2015 to support our medical students with financial need and expanded that program four years later to help make medical school debt-free for qualifying students. Bob and Christina also established an endowment to help defray some of the hidden costs incurred by graduating medical students, such as interview travel and exam fees. These and other efforts placed them among our institution's top benefactors supporting medical education. The couple also generously supported research in urology, Alzheimer's disease and clinical trials at Weill Cornell Medicine, as well as our work in emergency medicine and cardiothoracic surgery. We will greatly miss so much of Bob's character: his unwavering commitment to our students and our institution; his friendship and love; his generosity, hospitality and kindness; and his unparalleled passion for paying it forward. Our most heartfelt condolences to Christina, his children Lindsay and Shelby, and his many family and friends. Jessica M. Bibliowicz, Chair, Board of Fellows Dr. Robert A. Harrington, Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean Sanford I. Weill, Chair Emeritus, Board of Fellows Weill Cornell Medicine

Stitched a golf belt for Bob, and spent three wonderful trips to Scotland with him to chase the golf ball. He loved the game as he loved his new Chateau Pabus. Dave Bentley

I am truly heartbroken over his loss. I got to know Bob well over the last 3 years and spent time with him this summer in Jupiter and Tuxedo. I will miss this man who in a short time showed me what it is like to care for others.

I will always be thankful and grateful for the kindness and friendship Bob shared with me both during our initial engineering careers but during our much longer term connection in the world of Investment Management. My deepest sympathies to his family.
