ROBERT FANGER

FANGER--Robert Dworet. Robert Dworet Fanger of Cambridge, MA, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025. Born in Brookline, MA in 1933 to Philip and Esther (Dworet) Fanger, he was educated at Lawrence Academy, Dartmouth College and Columbia University, earning an M.B.A. degree. Bob was founder or co-founder of Fanger, Sullivan, and O'Brian, food brokers; Firestone Financial Corp. and Medallion Funding (New York). After retiring, he remained active in the finance world as an advisor to Eastern Funding LLC (New York). More importantly, he was dedicated to his family, friends, Dartmouth College and philanthropy. He remained faithful to Dartmouth, chairing the 25th and 50th reunions of the Class of 1955, and serving as class president and Alumni Council representative. He served as trustee for the University Hospital and the Home for Little Wanderers (Boston). He had a network of friends around the world and as king of the "small world" stories, he ran into old friends on ski lifts, in airports, and on the Great Wall of China. Bob leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Iris Fanger (Mandel), children Michael Fanger (Linda Sattel), Laurie Fanger and grandchildren, Rachel and Jon Fanger, Ember and Nat Reed, and nieces and nephews, Paula MacDonald, and Jill, Charles, Bruce, and Garett Backman. A funeral service was held today at Temple Israel, Boston, MA with visiting at his late home tomorrow and Tuesday. The livestream link is at: brezniakfuneraldirectors. com.
