ROBERT LEVINSON Obituary

LEVINSON--Robert A. The Trustees, Faculty, Students, and Staff of the Mount Sinai Health System mourn the passing of our dear friend Robert A. Levinson. Along with his late wife, Patricia, a Mount Sinai Trustee, Robert championed many initiatives across our institution. Most notably, through their visionary philanthropy, Robert and Patricia established the Patricia S. Levinson Center for Multicultural and Community Affairs, building the foundation for key diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at Mount Sinai. Ardent supporters of medical education, Robert and Patricia also generously funded endowed scholarships and fellowships that will support students and early-career physicians for years to come. We are truly grateful to have benefited from Robert's many years of loyalty, friendship, and kindness, and we will remember him fondly. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his children, Margot, Andrew, and John, and the entire Levinson family. Richard A. Friedman and James S. Tisch, Co-Chairmen, Peter W. May, Chairman Emeritus, Boards of Trustees; Kenneth L. Davis, MD, Chief Executive Officer; Dennis S. Charney, MD, Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Dean, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and President for Academic Affairs, Mount Sinai Health System

Sorry to hear of Robert´s passing. I was away and did not know of his passing. Gentleman, mentor, enlightener to all who knew him, it is with sadness that we learn we are not going to live forever. It is not how long one lives but what makes of one´s life. Bruce Klein

My late wife (Rosemary Carey) and I loved Bob. He was one of the nicest and most interesting people in the world! His integrity was front and center. One of my favorite stories was Bob being a NY delegate at the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention. Somehow as a relatively young person he ended up being in charge of the Credentials Committee, where all the action was at the convention. I knew Bob through our involvement with National Dance Institute (NDI). Thank you Bob for all you did in your life.

Wonderful person and humanitarian and always had a chuckle at either mine or his own expense. Had a great sense of style poise and humor. Sincerest condolences to John Drew Peggy

I always saw my grandfather as a role model. He would sometimes tell me a bit about his past when I would ask him. One of my favorite things he would tell me was that he was in the NAVY in WW2, turns out he witnessed the testing of the first hydrogen bomb in 1950 on the Marshall Islands in the Pacific. He raised a good family, and I'm glad he was the last one of the oldest Levinson family generation. But, I knew he was going to go at some point. I'm just glad that he is in heaven now, he lived a good life, but I'm glad he can reunite with his parents, siblings, friends, and most of all, his wife, my grandmother. Rest In Peace, Robert/Bob/Poppy.

What a life and well-lived and what accomplishments! Not too many people can claim such kindness and care for others, but he can. May he rest in peace among angels as he deserved, We were honored to know of him. Our thoughts of sadness, and thoughts of an example of goodness for mankind go to his lovely family in these very sad times. Danielle, Jules and Amelia Finker

I was sorry to hear of Bobs passing. He lived a great long life
I knew Bob from the textile business. When my company closed in 2002 Bob was kind enough to offer me an office to use until I found another job. I will never forget that! What a fine gentleman he was!
My condolences to his family at this time.
