ROBERT OSTERBERG

OSTERBERG--Robert. Robert Charles Osterberg, born 1936 in Jersey City, NJ to Charles and Josephine, died March 17, 2023 on Cape Cod. At his law firm Abeles, Clark, Osterberg & Prager, he represented much of the music publishing industry and litigated seminal cases con-cerning copyright renewal and termination. Robert co-authored the copyright treatise "Substantial Similarity in Copyright Law" and served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham, St. John's and Roger Williams. He was a graduate of NYU Law and Brandeis University, and played guard on the Brandeis basketball team that made the NCAA tournament and was voted the ECAC's best small college five in the East. He once held the Brandeis records for assists and foul-outs. Robert was a devoted and cherished husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marion, children Eric and Anna, and grandchildren Nicholas, Kelley, Lars, Sadonna, Finn, and Braden.
