Robert Tramantano Obituary

1951 - 2017
Robert Philip Tramantano, born on February 4, 1951, died Saturday March 11, 2017 after a year-long battle with cancer.  He is survived by his wife Donna, his children, Patricia, Adam and Elizabeth, six grandchildren, and his brothers Charles and Thomas.

A native New Yorker, Bob lived most of his life in the Morris Park neighborhood of the Bronx.  He was a carpenter by trade.  From skyscrapers in Manhattan to homes in the Bronx and the suburbs, he built his part of the world masterfully.  He worked for decades in the construction industry as a carpenter, foreman, and private contractor.  He worked the last part of his career for HPD, where he managed such projects as transforming abandoned buildings into housing for the homeless.

He had a voracious appetite for learning and was always reading a new book, or studying a new era of history.  He was also a natural teacher; always willing to instruct, guide, and mentor.  He had a glowing smile and a comforting voice.  He embodied thoughtfulness, confidence, and empathy.  He will be missed for his profound intellect, surprising wit, and deep sense of compassion and love.

Services will be at Woolworth Chapel, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
At 11am Friday March 17, 2017.
