ROGER SAMET

SAMET--Roger Hugh. Roger Hugh Samet, age 87, of New York City and Southampton passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023, and is survived by his daughter Chang Ge, son-in-law Dr. Paul Aaronson, sister Ann Lance and cousin Todd Kane. Roger was born and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio and received both undergraduate and law degrees at Yale. Roger spent his career as a business entrepreneur and venture capitalist working in a variety of fields including communication technology, publishing, and biotechnology. A gentleman of many interests and passions, Roger was a consummate world-traveler and a devotee and patron of the arts as an ardent supporter of Young Concert Artists and a founder of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Concert Series. An avid sportsman, Roger was a long-standing member of the Long Island Wyandanch Club and enjoyed long time memberships in the Yale Club and The Meadow Club of Southampton. Possessing charisma, affability, and great joie de vivre, Roger's most meaningful legacy perhaps are the enduring friendships he made throughout his life with people of all stripes and from around the world.
