RONALD SHAW Obituary

SHAW--Ronald. Ronald J. Shaw (known to most as Ronnie) was born on April 25, 1935, in the Bronx, NY to Rose and Harry Saperstein. He lived with his wife Karen Shaw in Chelsea, Manhattan, and in Holmes, NY. Ronnie passed away on December 24, 2020 in an automobile accident. Ronnie started working from a young age in the print industry. He rose to production manager in a photo engraving company and saw the transformation of the industry into the digital age. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Economics at Queens College in his thirties while working full time. Ronnie and Karen Shaw married in 1960 and had two sons, David and Stephan. They raised their family in Baldwin, NY. Ronnie is remembered as an extremely kind and generous man. He loved following politics and economics and spent his retirement days playing chess and trading stocks. He was devoted to his family and, in the years since retirement, was dragged on many international trips with his wife, children and grandchildren. In recent years, Ronnie and Karen volunteered actively with the New Sanctuary Coalition, helping asylum seekers avoid deportation. Ronnie was raised in the Jewish faith, and while he wasn't observant, he was a regular at synagogue every Yom Kippur, and observed the fast and recited the Kaddish for his mother and father. Ronnie will be remembered by his wife, sons David and Stephan, daughters-in-law Francesca and Sunita, grandchildren Chiara, Gautama, Akash, Sara and Satya, and sister Gail Carr. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the family will have a private cremation according to Ronnie's wishes. There will be a memorial when it is safe for the many who would like to honor his life and memory.

My deepest condolences to the family of Ronnie Shaw. I did not know Mr. Shaw, but I was on the highway on Christmas Eve traveling to pick up my children in Southbury at the time of the accident. I have thought about your family in the weeks since, and just want to send you our heartfelt condolences.
Warm Regards,

I love my father-in-law, the embodiment of kindness and goodness. I honestly don't think he ever had a bad thought about anyone (except maybe a certain president) and this photo encapsulates just how funny he was. One of my favorite memories of dad was playing charades with him on a boat in the backwaters of Kerala. He had to act out "Romeo and Juliet" and all he kept doing again and again was blowing amorous kisses to mom. We all laughed till we dropped! Love and miss you dad, and I feel so fortunate to have had you as my dad. - Sunita
