ROSE DIAMOND Obituary

DIAMOND--Rose. Rose Diamond, born September 1, 1918 in New York City, our beloved Rose passed away February 9, 2019 in West Hills, California at 100. Rose once joked, "Everyone's a producer here in Los Angeles. I'm a producer, too. I produced two wonderful sons." Rose earned the title of producer from her loving family who treated the family matriarch as a celebrity with lots of love, respect and admiration. Rose developed a large and loving fan base from coast-to-coast, including an international following of many friends. As a loving mother, Rose had the ability to recognize in her children their talents and encouraged them in the roles they were to play in their lives. Over the years, Rose was frequently seen dancing with her beloved husband Kieve at Roseland and the Palladium in New York. Kieve played the role of Fred Astaire and Rose as Ginger Rogers. Both having the same smooth movements and great love for dancing. Rose passed away from a stroke. Her loving family were at her bedside serenading her with many songs of love that she enjoyed so much over the years. As her son, Neil put it, "We wept when it was all done. For being done too soon." Rose is survived by her sons, Harvey and Neil and their wives, Alice and Katie, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Rose is predeceased by her loving husband Kieve and her cherished granddaughter Jennifer Diamond. If you'd like to make a donation in Rose's memory, Please consider her favorite charity the Jennifer Diamond Cancer Foundation, which provides free support programs to people dealing with cancer. Sorry this comes so late. My Aunt was a good friend to Rose. Aunt Adella Allen lived at the same assisted living facility. Roses son Neil brought roses for my aunt as well as his mother. Adella treasured her friendship with Rose and the gift of roses from Neil.

She lived at the facility I worked at. I was honored to server her many many meals. I was able to sit with Rose and she would talk and tell me sortiews about her family. Her mother´s name was the same as mine and my middle name is rose. She gave me a Jewish name. She was truly a delight.

Neil and family, I am so sorry to hear about Rose's passing. Your parents were good friends with mine, Lou and Marcia Scharf and retired down to Tamarac together. They were always my favorite of all the friends. They actually taught dance lessons in my parent's house. I have such wonderful memories of Rose and Kieve. May their memory be a blessing.

May your Mom’s memory be a blessing. A most gracious and sweet lady who, from the first time I met your Mom...and Dad at your Forest Hills Tennis Stadium concerts in 1976, treated me as family. I was introduced to the ‘mishpachah’ as ‘Joy from Brooklyn, Neil’s biggest fan who travels all over to concerts’. And we got time to talk about Brighton Beach and Brooklyn, and my Dad and Grandma and Aunt who frequented the store.
Through so many years and oh so many fabulous concerts it was always even more special to spend time with your Mom.
My Mom and Dad got to sit and talk with your Mom about Brooklyn from back in the day before one of Greek Shows. My Dad even brought a bouquet for her.
I will always fondly remember your Mom..and Dad. I am so saddened to learn of her passing.

Dear Neil,

I lost my mother back in 1991 when I was in my early 30s and I couldn't play music again for seven years because she was such a fan and source of positive support. Your mother's heartbeat is your first exposure to music via the rhythm of her pulse and my mother was a singer so I was lucky that way. While your mom's body may be gone, she is still very much alive and in a better realm. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.

Neil and family, my condolences on the passing of your Mom. Such a difficult time. My mother's name was also Rose. She passed in 2004. She used to laugh that she shared your mother's name. She loved your music as much as I do and used to say that based on the man you are and your works, your mother must have been a great woman. I know what you're going through. Stay strong.

Through my wife, Letty, one of Rose's caregivers, I met Rose. One of the things I learned very quickly from Rose was how much emphasis she committed to the importance of family. Over the years I met many members of Rose's family. They too, share the same commitment to the importance of family as Rose. What a great characteristic to instill into family members. Our hearts are with you, Rose Diamond. Love and hugs to you always.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Neil and Harvey on the loss of their mother Rose. Rose and Kieve came in for an eye examination my first week in practice back in 1974. Kieve was wearing a black leather jacket with the Neil Diamond logo on back. He was such a very proud father and before he passed away I would see him and sometimes Harvey around town in their black leather Diamond jackets. We became friends over the years and Debi and I were fortunate to join them at many of Neil's concerts and attend their private after parties following his performance when he was in town. Rose was such a proud mother! During Neil's concerts, when everyone got up to sing and dance with him, she would always turn around and look at the audience to make sure everybody was having a good time. When satisfied, she would have a big smile on her face and turn toward the stage. The dozen or so concerts we attended with the Diamonds, Rose's picture would always appear somewhere in Neil's Concert Program. She was so proud of that. I continued taking care of Rose's eyes until a few years ago when she got sick. Rose was an incredible lady and we were so lucky to have known her. She will be missed by all.

Neil, you and Harvey were so blessed to have such a loving mom. I was so fortunate to have walked out with her two nights in a row after one of your Greek runs. She remembered me from your HBO special and birthday party afterwards. When I complimented her on how nice her son was, she was so proud when she said, "I know, isn't he dear?" On the third night, we didn't get to walk out together, but she stepped out of the limo looking in the crowd. She saw me, smiled, waved, and said, "Good-bye dear!" and got back in the limo. I will always remember how gracious and warm she was. Your family was so blessed to have such a loving matriarch. My condolences to all of you.

To the Diamond Family,
I'm sorry for your loss. Nothing can ever replace a mother's love. It is something special. Neil, I hope you and your family find peace knowing that your beautiful mom is dancing with the angels and one day, you will see her again. Even though you can no longer see her in this life, she is with you and at times, you will feel her presence. Neil, you now have another "angel above your head". Your mom finished her job here and obviously was very proud of any mother's greatest accomplishment - raising a family who makes a difference in this world. I hope you find peace in knowing that you all made her life so full and she was with you for an incredible 100 years. That is quite a feat! God bless you all!

It is never easy losing a loved one. Keep her memory alive by sharing stories with one another, remembering the good times. It takes time as anyone knows who lost a loved one. Give yourself all the time you need. Many prayers........
