our former partner and friend of many years, passed away on January 16, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Janet Wiener de Winter; three children, Deborah de Winter (Philip Sussman), James (Jennifer) de Winter and Julia (Scott) Stein; three step-daughters, Maggie (Darryl) Hoffman, Emily (Frank) Bukow and Liz Wiener; 16 grandchildren; his sister, Susan (Warner) Posen; and his sister-in-law Simone De Winter. His first wife, Lydelia Wellstead de Winter, predeceased him in 1987. A member of Kramer Levin's real estate department for 34 years, Rudi was a constant fountain of knowledge and superb advice for his colleagues and clients. He was meticulous, dedicated and a true gentleman. In retirement, he devoted himself full time to the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Nassau County Bar Association, helping indigent parties in housing matters. We will miss him dearly.

Janet, I wrote you a note weeks ago but had the wrong address. Rudi was a kind, friendly gentleman. At Rosh Hashonah services he greeted me with a delightful smile. From a contemporary classmate it felt wonderful. Barbara joins me in sending condolences. Norman

To Judy and Rudi's complete family my deepest condolences. I meant rudi in 2010 and could never imagine a man greater than him. I once told him that if I would ever become super wealthy or win the lottery I would name a scholarship after him. The man was a angel on Earth that would help you with anything. I was very sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I have a lot of fond memories from longer ago than i care to admit. I last saw your dad at our fathers' 30 reunion at Cornell and worked with him on a couple of files over the years.

My deepest condolences to Rudys wife and family. I met Rudy in Landlord Tenant court many years ago. He was a formidable adversary. But more than that, we formed a collegial friendship over the years. He helped me with a problematic case. My regret is that I did not tell him how much I respected and admired him. Only yesterday did I see his name in the NYS real property law commentaries and I told a newly admitted attorney about him. A gentleman and a scholar. Rest In Peace. You are missed. Mary T. Lucere.

Rudi was such a wonderful man. I treasure the memories of the 10 years that I worked for him at Kramer Levin. I am very sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.
